Ingredients of Homemade Sweet chili sauce:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

  • 3 medium cloves of garlic, minced (about 1 tablespoon)

  • 2 teaspoons salt

  • 2 tbsp water for corn starch

  1. In a small cup, whisk together 2 tbsp water and cornstarch. Set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, mix together a cup of water, sugar, pepper, vinegar, and salt.
  3. Bring to a boil over medium heat, reduce heat and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the cornstarch mixture, then whisk into saucepan and cook until thickened, about 1 minute more.
  5. Remove from heat, let cool, and use immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
